They're like the archetypal NEET lizard really, they had their den, one I particularly recall was in a retaining wall we had, but they barely leave except to find something resembling food, find being the keyword since they're foragers rather than hunters, too lethargic to actually exert themselves for that. Even when they're basking it's always very close to their den.
One advantage to living in Australia is that we do get all kinds of neat reptiles, and as a reptile guy who has never had problems with snakes or lizards or anything, it's a wonderful thing. If I had the land, I'd love to have a carpet python since they're big sweeties that scare warm-bloods and keep rodents and other small pests off your property, I also recall helping my dad move a big 6 footer off the highway when I was 9 or 10 which was pretty formative in cementing my love of reptiles really. Fuck spiders though, they can die in nuclear hellfire.
