Actually to continue my spider-spergout, the 70s Spidey tv show is pretty underrated. It's got a groovy ass intro and it's pretty fun in a cheesy way. The soundtrack is unironically one of the best tv show soundtracks out there. The show gets a bit of crap for its goofy special effects, but it still looks better than DC's series of soap operas "superhero dramas".

I see the complete opposite happening. To me it seems like more and more technology is becoming available to the poor and our society is becoming increasingly automated. Not only that, but more and more rich people are becoming interested in off grid lifestyles. I remember seeing an interview with a well known philosopher and he said that before it was a luxury to be within technology, but in the future it will be a luxury to be outside of technology. If technology was exclusively for the rich, that would be a good thing in my opinion. But that's not what's happening sadly. We are seeing the beginnings of a true cyberpunk dystopia.

>automation is a big factor

I think the whole jobs will be automated thing is a pipe dream. Elon Musk tried to automate one of his plants and the robots failed. Also it's probably cost prohibitive and unsafe to automate most jobs. The automation meme seems like something progressives like to tell themselves in order to cope with mankind's bleak future.

>Progressives think automation is a good thing
Wait what? I was pretty sure just about everyone realized it was gonna be bad for proles. As soon as the masses of humanity have been made obsolete by robotic labor, the massacres will start. In the next 10-20 years, I'd guess that at least ~7,000,000 jobs (+-3m) will be completely eliminated by robots and software. Those useless scum aren't going to just sit on their hands, they'll rabble rouse, and it will only get worse and worse as more and more is taken over by automation. Martial law, civil war, killbots, shit's gonna be fun.

  No. 2590

I don't think this mass automation is going to happen. We've hit a wall with the levels of technological innovation that can take place. Progressives want to think we'll live in some Jetsons like future with flying cars when the best we're going to get is cheap smartphones.

  No. 2591

>>2590
>Automation has hit a wall
Just this year I can think of several extremely impressive achievements in computer vision, natural environment interaction, materials grasping, language processing, and various specialized subdomains that probably have spillover to more general domains.

This video is a good example of recent progress, sure the robit is shit compared to a human toddler, but if you asked 5 years ago how long before we could get a robot to identify items visually, figure out how to grasp them, and then place them in context specific locations in a nearly real-world environment in near-realtime, chances are most experts would have guessed 20+ years. That kind of leap is happening all the time these days, and if it keeps up it won't be long before human parity at a lot of tasks.

Even if progress in those areas stalled today, there's still certainly going to be progress in computing power, sensors, control systems, data sets, custom hardware, heuristics, and so on. With today level of automation, just running faster, or with more data, or with refinements to pull better signal, the technology would be well within striking distance of automation of most physical labor.

>video

I don't disagree at all. I'm not arguing that automation is totally inevitable because "progress" or whatever, but baring catastrophic collapse, I just don't see stagnation happening in this area. Automation just makes too much sense once you realize that it probably won't be shared, but used to replace a large chunk of the population.

>Computing has diminishing returns
True, but we have not yet reached the point where the returns are so diminished or costly as to prevent progress. Computing R&D is still only a fraction of total discretionary R&D expenditure, and only employs a fraction of the people employed in manual labor. Computing will probably continue to advance several more orders of magnitude in efficiency/cost-per-computation before it really hits a wall. Same with most other areas of research that will enable automation.

>Not when you factor in the costs of implementation.

To be clear, I'm not saying it makes sense for a "automated utopia for all" or anything, but once you factor in the benefits from disposing of the people replaced by automation, it seems that it makes sense. Basic human labor in a complex society also incurs significant costs, the masses of Joe Shmoe manual laborer or service industry wagies in the first world consumes a large amount of societies total energy, space, time and other resources, while only providing a small net benefit e.g keeping the wheels of the machine greased and turning. The majority of useful work is done by a small minority of people. The rest only provide small amounts of surplus value, that in aggregate power Moloch's engines. Replace the majority of people with a smaller number of robots who consume even only a bit less, and you'll free up huge amounts of energy to then put back into replacing even more with cheaper systems. Automation is actually a simplification of the system, rather than an increase in complexity.

vid unrelated, i's just cute.

>>2616
>Clock speeds are down
Well, those have never really been a great benchmark given major differences in instruction execution between architectures, parallelization, and such. While they have been going down for reasons of thermal management, the efficiency is still improving. Which is why I mentioned cost/efficiency of computation. As it is more important for many tasks than clockspeed. Besides for various types of hardware speed can still be increased. Though speeds of some components like the CPU are up against the limit for 2d silicon, novel 2D materials with better thermal/electrical properties and newer architecture design like 3D high throughput chips or even integrated cooling all promise to improve even that. Though admittedly some of those are a ways off.

>I don't think you can definitively say that

Maybe not definitely, but it seems that way. It wouldn't be true if we were talking about automating a simple society. Replacing a hunter gatherer or a subsistence farmer with a robot would never make sense. But people in the complex societies of the first world not only specialized, but they each use huge amounts of energy. Even the lowliest of laborers in the first world consumes vast resources. The electricity their lights, AC, TV, and appliances use, the gas for their stove and water heater, the petrol used in their cars, the petrol used to transport products, even costs like the court or medical system and secondary costs of maintaining these systems. All of that complexity which only eats more and more resources the more people you have. So if you can then replace some of those human parts which require so much support, with a robot that only uses far less, you've relieved a lot of strain on the system.

Yeah, breeders are garbage, but it can get so much much worse. When I lived in an apartment complex in the poorfag part of downtown as a kid, there were people with serious genetically linked mental issues like major schizophrenia and bipolar killing themselves every year or so, and lots of them had like 4+ fucked up kids. Actual domestic abuse like screaming fights that resulted in broken bones you could hear through the walls also happened fairly often. Isn't it funny that to do something of upstanding character like adopt an unwanted child you have to jump through hoop after hoop to prove your competency and character, but filth like that are allowed to knock up slut after slut or pop kid after messed-up kid out of their diseased meathole because "muh reproductive freedums!". We're born to constantly desire things even when we were cavemen, otherwise we would have died out without the compulsion for rape, kidnapping, hunting, eating, housing etc. Now when you join a society it's a treaty that you won't do those things in trade for a slice of the pie, but I think the pie is rotting.
For the last couple 100 years our ideals strengthened but our control over making them happen has dipped.
We were raised on shows with happy families, games that give you purpose, and shows where the guy wins in the end.
Now for the average man all there is is the feeling of being replaceable, trapped in a job, and constantly having to worry about your wife jesus himself is trying to seduce.
And yet people still treat having kids as the purpose of life instead of asking what's the point?
And so people who luckily aren't all that bothered by life pop out kids who will have to decide that on their own after their parents played god.
Very weird life 3/10 the fetishes were good.

I tend to agree. When looking back to the times in my life when I was temporarily in a living hell I have to admit that it was by and large self imposed. I wasn't being careful and discipline enough and it led me into a hole.

Personally I find that anger fills me with feelings that I don't like. I think emptiness is preferable, no matter how morally right it would be to be angry. Also I think that anger is normally just a step on the road to emptiness anyways. I have a theory that the natural progression of a social outcast is: blissful ignorance (sometimes this step is skipped) > observations > pain > anger > emptiness/disgust or enlightenment (enlightenment is hard to achieve obviously, and normally life for an outcast leads to only emptiness. I'm not even sure enlightenment can be achieved, it could just be a theoretical/unachievable goal). Meanwhile the normalfag never leaves the blissful ignorance stage, and a part of that blissful ignorance is eventually thinking that you're smarter than you really are, which leads to SJW and evangelical atheist types.

Also not the first guy you were replying to but I think true enlightenment is a golden egg, every realization big or small if it's more truthful than your previous belief is a step towards enlightenment. Recently I had taken a walk outside in a local park, and in my memory compare the experience to that of the divine. It is a strange thing to say, but it has just been a very long time since I can last recall the sun cheering, clouds beckoning, and grass delightfully green around me. During my walk I was not hungry in the slightest and my mind was clear, all that I was meant to think about was walking step-by-step. And walking I did: My body was grateful despite feeling a bit physically tired, as I slept wonderfully well afterwards.

I spent the better of a couple hours circling the same path too, observing little differences in my environment each time. With each time I thought to myself, that while I will die, my memory and experiences here are in a way eternal to my soul. And that while I saw differences with each passing, the whole of things remain essentially the same, and that there was not only a momentary sense of belonging in Nature, but a kind of Oneness with all things breathing simultaneously in harmony for just one still moment. In other words, what photographs and film merely attempt to capture – the sublime animation of life itself, including myself in the vessel of my own senses. This is how I imagine the creator must feel as he wanders the land.

And to think, I was sober the whole time!

“Above all, do not lose your desire to walk. Everyday, I walk myself into a state of well-being & walk away from every illness. I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it. But by sitting still, & the more one sits still, the closer one comes to feeling ill. Thus if one just keeps on walking, everything will be all right.” There's certainly truth to it, generally when ones interacting with the world, or tired worry or anxiety is less present.
Not sure if this is just because your inner dialogue and capability to feel are somewhat muffled by activity/visual stimuli, a temporary change in our negativity bias or something else.

Generally because the source of frustration would be that someone else. I'm patient in a lot of ways but I've not the patience for two-faced people and those who think that they're better than others. It's not a common occurrence since I think I'm usually treated more as a novelty than an inferior, but when it happens, my blood just boils. It's one thing to like something considered more highbrow than another, or to have nicer things. I don't have a problem with that, it's your time and tin to spend. When you start thinking that any of that makes you another's better, it rubs me very wrong. Two-faced people piss me off because of how I was raised, sort it out one way or another but don't say one thing and do another. Part of why I'm noncommittal too. Don't want to say something I can't end up sticking to. Add in that isolation makes human interaction hit like a freight train and you have a powder keg ready to blow.

In short, textbook autism rage. Might be silly, but I got my reasons for it.

>darkened room with my mutterings until it bursts out as a violent surge of frustration at something or someone.
I do this but usually it only hurts myself, yet it has fastened an apathy for others I don't know or respect.
> attempting to hold conversation with my cat though
Ha I just essentially talk to myself through them, I call my cat a rat, or insult her playfully. Or feed the neighbors horse and tell him about the food i'll bring him next time or the cold etc.
>I can hardly express condolences for what seems like an interesting mental state rather than a particularly agonizing one.
No issues here, I'm sorry for myself I need no others sympathies. No worries about the items, I'd have sold them for drug money rather than gave them to kids who will enjoy them.

Man, I wish there was a horse near me. I love horses. Very intelligent animals, I can see why you might interact with it. I wish I knew more about them but most of my animal knowledge I got from my mother's livestock books and she hated working with horses since they can be ridiculously fragile in some ways.

>words are not etched in stone, no man has never told a lie, or said something he didn't mean or understand fully.

Yeah, I know. I still like to minimise the fallout though. Easy enough to just not make waves unless it's critical. I've certainly told lies before, it' just that they tend to be minor and numerous and just rather hide details I'd prefer not to share (saying work was particularly busy as the reason I slept all afternoon rather than just saying I had a bout of fatigue for example) than fabricating anything that actually affects anybody else negatively.

Kind of actually, I prefer speaking in monologues and like listening. I'd probably listen to your babbling at least for curiosities sake.

Yea he's quiet and an endurance beast, only let's me pet him sometimes but I just feed him carrots so I can see him. I based one of my characters in a book I stopped writing on him, always has a far off look in his eye and will walk anywhere for his carrot on a stick.
> I've certainly told lies before, it' just that they tend to be minor and numerous and just rather hide details I'd prefer not to share
Nothing wrong with this, generally if you don't do this things go down hill, in my experience at least.
If I tell someone I'll play later with them since I'm anxious and don't want to hear my own voice, things would be a bit unconventional. It's cool if you just like being the spectator because I prefer that too, though don't lose faith in sharing your opinion with others or you'll get used or used. You know everything I'm saying most likely I'm just rambling like you might. hell I ramble on here all the time where I know most long post aren't read.

I might give it a try here at some point then. My mum's friend once had a horse that I'd feed carrots to as well. She was a black nag though, gentle as anything but never got broke so she had the devil in her eyes if someone tried to ride her. Her favourite food though was apple, and she even smelled a bit like them. Lovely beast. In many ways more deserving of 'man's best friend' than dogs in my opinion.

>I ramble on here all the time where I know most long post aren't read.

I often read long posts, but typically a long post of rambling from the heart is a very personal thing requiring implied knowledge to truly understand. In many ways, someone reading it and not responding is likely more respectful to the content than someone saying that they understand the culmination of a lifetime that isn't theirs.

Actually I hadn't thought of this, but since I've been at my dad's house right now for the past few days I haven't had a chance to fap. That means I'm alredy three days into nofap. Maybe I'll continue into the next week or two to see how many buckets I can fill when I'm done.
Also pic related is the setup I got working the other day with a cheap projector. It doesn't work as nicely at my mom's house because there aren't any flat walls. Hopefully my brother gets a long weekend or something soon so I have a reason to visit.

God damn, that's the worst shit. This morning I woke up and I remember I had a dream where I was in a small village like something from Zelda. I was coming back from a journey of some sort and a little girl greeted me and it was just so fucking peaceful. There were people in the village that I had an abstract sense of trust towards and just as I'm walking towards them my mom wakes me up with her shrill voice. I just want to die. For example, I remember I used to see that clown pepe back in 2014-2015 being posted every once and a while and it was just a silly meme that had no "deep meanings" or what have you. But now, it's been hijacked by the alt right and now it represents "how just like, crazy our world is XDDDDD". You're only alternative to this is social media, but normalfags on social media ruin memes worse than any /pol/fag could ever dream of doing. I've even been seeing rumors that Gondola may be hijacked by either /pol/ or /leftypol/ and I just hope all it is is a rumor. 2016 is the year internet culture died and I hope we can take it back soon.

Right, now people just use him as a template for random caricatures. The "feels" aspect where he's meant to evoke empathy is lost.

I don't know about Pepe, he was never made to represent anything other than how good it feels to pull your pants all the way down to pee. It's funny to see how out-there the iterations get to the point that a frog dressed as a clown is now a far-right symbol. The absurdity of it sort of proves the meme itself.

That's what they wanted and they got it. Fuck, I miss the days when 4chan was fun and wasn't a hangout for social media kiddies and politifags. I especially hate how kids on /pol/ nowadays, literally think they are going to change the world; just shows how far up their own ass they are. I remember people used to hate /pol/ a lot back in the day and I used to wonder why. Well, now I know. And I guess it wasn't just good enough to take over 4chan because now they have pretty much taken over most of the western internet. And then there is /leftypol/, which isn't a threat now but it is growing and will probably take /pol/'s place after it looses traction. Oh joy! that exclamation was sarcasm btw
And then of course, as I said before, the only alternative now is social media, but that is a complete cesspool of (pardon the phrase) degeneracy that not even Jesus Christ himself could cleanse.
I really am grateful for sites like this, that stick to their guns and try to keep some semblance of IB culture alive. I also browse a few sites that are chock full of 4chan oldfags that keep the old days alive pretty well.
Anyways, that's the end of my rant. Have a Spurdo and a Gondola, and have a good rest of the day!

My mother grounded me for a week when I was younger because I had gotten a comic book with a lady that was wearing your average spandex superhero costume and she still freaks out anytime there's any sort of sexual shit in tv shows or anything, so I can safely assume she has no idea how many doujins I've read.
It was some Spider-man and his Amazing Friends comic that I saw at the library. Not a bad comic iirc. I remember pretty specifically trying to check it out and then she sees the cover and freaks out about how "she might as well be naked". It was some 80s shit like pic related, real tame compared to what was being done just a few years later. And either way it's not like I'd never seen a swimsuit at that age.
Funny thing is, I had planned on using that to practice drawing women, so after that I promptly went on the computer and searched for pictures of comic book women, and that's how I found Rob Liefeld, so that backfired horribly.
All in all my upbringing when it came to my mother was a train wreck. My dad's been alright to me though.

Well back in school when they tried to give me extra time on my tests and shit like that because they diagnosed me with ADHD I didn't let them out of some sort of misguided sense of morality, so I'm assuming that she's going to be cautious about getting me to actually get diagnosed with anything else, if that is her plan. I've never liked going to psychojews or anything of that sort even though it normally goes fine. not to mention that it sounded like that "wizard" is just absolutely incompetent in securing his privacy, letting people access his YouTube AND his home files? uhh pretty much just-left-my-laptop-open-in-the-family-room tier. he then mentions that his browsing history is supposedly clean, probably uses incognito mode thinking it's foolproof security. For me it's Waterfox, the superior firefox fork that's not by (((Firefox))). Also, it's not as unusable as GNU IceCat which broke all of my extensions. For Android I use Naked Browser, which uses stock webview and has a minimist UI that may not appeal to everyone but is super fast when you get the hang of it. Don't fall for the (((Chrome))) or (((Firefox))) false dichonomy in browsers for PC or phone.

I told my grandparent "we're in a dream right now" in which they replied "this is a dream?" and after a moment started crying.

There are two guys working in kfc that are from India.
They both speak english and one knows some polish words. Nobody talks to them because of language barrier.
I've never been so close to one so I was curious and decided to talk with them. Told me that I'm the first Pole they met that can speak english so well.
it suprised me because I only spoke to a teacher for like 3 months once every week for less than hour
They gave me a free ride to home even though it wasn't on their way.

but the important thing is that I didn't stress at all and talking was more natural than in native language I wasn't even stuttering (that sometimes happens). I was speaking normally instead of quietly, had courage to say what I think.

It's bizzare, I'm either scared of white faces or Polish language makes my brain lag

Completely valid, personal experience vs. personal experience. All depends on the individual and your surroundings.
I think in the case of the video most people see tourist of india as rich and different so hate is bound to arise (plus they're all poor and dirty it's probably natural to grimace at the closest noise/anchor to reality that's not entertaining you).

This happened when another family member died as well, someone robbed his house right after he was declared dead.

If there's something that drives me mad, is fake dichotomies that are bringed up whenever someone confronts another guy.
>you shit on me shilling a team? you must be a nigger from the rival team

>you're not pissed about a group? then you must be an apologist of them and one of them
