Recently I had taken a walk outside in a local park, and in my memory compare the experience to that of the divine. It is a strange thing to say, but it has just been a very long time since I can last recall the sun cheering, clouds beckoning, and grass delightfully green around me. During my walk I was not hungry in the slightest and my mind was clear, all that I was meant to think about was walking step-by-step. And walking I did: My body was grateful despite feeling a bit physically tired, as I slept wonderfully well afterwards.
I spent the better of a couple hours circling the same path too, observing little differences in my environment each time. With each time I thought to myself, that while I will die, my memory and experiences here are in a way eternal to my soul. And that while I saw differences with each passing, the whole of things remain essentially the same, and that there was not only a momentary sense of belonging in Nature, but a kind of Oneness with all things breathing simultaneously in harmony for just one still moment. In other words, what photographs and film merely attempt to capture – the sublime animation of life itself, including myself in the vessel of my own senses. This is how I imagine the creator must feel as he wanders the land.
And to think, I was sober the whole time!
